VOS PHONE POLL TO SUPPORT SNAP USERS

The Village of Solomon Traditional Council has established a temporary program to support VOS families who utilize the USDA Food Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) benefit to support household food security. During the government shutdown, VOS acknowledges how the SNAP food benefit may have a detrimental impact on families who rely on feeding their household with this program. Although we cannot put a timeline on when the food benefit will be distributed again, VOS would like to support those families by providing a temporary VOS food benefit program during the pause of the SNAP program during the shutdown. Your VOS Council has obligated a pot of funding to support households through an application process which can be found here: https://www.villageofsolomon.org/forms-applications

The VOS Traditional Council is able to approve a program without a regular Council meeting by proposing a ‘Phone Poll’ in which, each voting member is able to support the proposal; this week, the Council approved a temporary food benefit program which will be managed by the new Tribal Office Coordinator, Kelly Lyon.
