Village of Solomon Laptop Usage Agreement 

The Village of Solomon recognizes under COVID19 circumstances, the world has become increasingly virtual. VOS would like to provide technology in order to continue tribal gatherings and meetings in unity utilizing the available HP laptops and Zoom platform. The tribal council applied for and received a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Tribal Support grant to purchase 68 laptops for the tribe under the direction and management of the Traditional Council. To apply, please read the following information and fill out the online form below.

LAPTOP USAGE & SAFETY INFORMATION

 General Care 

  • Keep the device in laptop sleeve when not in use. 

  • No stickers

  • Leave asset tags displayed; do not tamper with or remove. 

  • Leave vents uncovered. 

  • Clean the screen with a soft, dry microfiber cloth ONLY if needed. 

  • Use designated computer disinfectant wipes to clean other parts of the device including the keyboard. (Never clean an electronic device with water or other cleaning agents.) 

  • Use USB headphones (recommended) to prolong the life of the sound jack and improve sound quality. 

  • Report any damage to the device as soon as possible.  

  • Do not attempt to repair the laptop yourself, contact VOS Office Staff immediately and fill out an incident report

  • To ensure laptops have the latest updates please reboot your computer at least once a week. 

  • Charge the device fully each night; leave the power cord/charger at home. 

  • Use the device in a common room of the home (family room, kitchen, dining room). 

  • Store the device on a desk or table -never on the floor! 

  • Protect the device from: Extreme heat or cold, Food, drinks, other liquids, small children or pets 

  • Tribal members are responsible for activities that happen on their laptop 

  • Tribal members cannot loan their laptop or laptop charging adaptor to anyone

  • Tribal members must adhere to all federal laws while on the internet

  • Never install random software from the internet, including games and software from pop-ups 

  • Take care when inserting cords, cables, and other removable storage devices to avoid damage to the laptop ports. DO NOT USE EXCESSIVE FORCE. Contact VOS staff if you are having difficulty using any of the peripherals. 

  • Laptops are fragile, please keep heavy objects off the laptop, and store device in a safe and secure location. Do not leave the device in the car 

  • Laptops must be cooled, keep the air vents free from obstructions 

EXPECTATIONS

  1. Notify the Tribal Coordinator if/when I move while I have the laptop

  2. To participate in at minimum 50% of all tribal activities online

  3. To notify VOS immediately if there are technical issues with the laptop

  4. To be respectful and handle with care for all VOS property

  5. If I fail to participate in tribal activities while the laptop is in my possession, VOS has the right to forfeit my laptop privileges immediately and if I fail to provide VOS the laptop, I will be financially responsible
