What is VOS’ Coronavirus Emergency Relief Assistance Grant Program?
✔ This is a financial assistance grant program for enrolled Village of Solomon (VOS) tribal members who have been impacted or who have tested positive for coronavirus.
(a) To respond to the public health emergency or its negative economic impacts, including assistance to households, small businesses, and nonprofits, or aid to impacted industries such as tourism, travel, and hospitality;
(b) a recipient should consider whether and how the use would respond to the COVID-19 public health emergency. Assessing whether a program or service “responds to” the COVID-19 public health emergency requires the recipient to, first, identify a need or negative impact of the COVID-19 public health emergency and, second, identify how the program, service, or other intervention addresses the identified need or impact
What is the deadline to apply?
✔ 5 pm December 31, 2024.
Who can apply?
✔ All VOS tribal member households, no matter where located, can apply.
✔ Only one application per household will be accepted. Attempting to submit multiple
applications for the same household may
disqualify the household from future financial assistance.
✔ Each household’s application is to be completed by a “main applicant,” who must be at least 18 years old by December 31, 2024.
✔ Non-VOS tribal member parents or legal
guardians can apply on behalf of tribal member dependents under 18 years old.
What expenses can be covered by this grant?
✔ Grant funds must be used for these added or increased expenses or economic losses related to COVID-19. Rent, utilities, phones, internet, groceries, deliveries, costs that have incurred due to isolation.
What identification information is required?
✔ Social security numbers, dates of birth, and VOS enrollment numbers for all household members are required. The VOS enrollment number can be found on the tribal ID or on the verification of tribal enrollment certificate. Call 907-443-4985 if assistance is required.
How do I qualify for funding?
✔ You must certify that you suffered an economic
impact due to the coronavirus pandemic. You must verify your statement of need:
Acceptable documentation is as follows;
Letter providing verification of positive test results or quarantine requirements due to close contact
Health records/documents verifying statement
✔ You must provide a signature on the form, in
the Applicant Certification section. Unsigned
applications cannot be accepted.
If I’m found eligible, how will VOS determine the size of my household’s grant?
✔ Financial assistance will be determined based on financial need and household size.
✔ Assistance is available until the budget approved by the Tribal Council is expended. The maximum amount to be provided under this grant, is $2,500.
How can I receive the grant funds?
✔ Checks will be mailed to the address you provide.
